This statistical observation data for 259 Pts of cleft lip and cleft palate cases who were..6perated in our Dept. of General Surgery, National Medical Center for 12 years, between 1958 and 1970. The results are #ollctws`c
1) The sexual ratio of cleft lip for male to female was 1.8 : 1, and the one of cleft palate was 1.8:1.
2) Among the 172 cases of the cleft lip, 96 cases (55.8%) combined cleft palate. 3) Among the cleft lip, bilateral cleft lip was 36 eases (20.9%), and on 172 cases of unilateral cleft lip, Lf. side cleft lip was 65.7% and the Rt. side was 33.5%.
4) The method of for cleft lip was as below:
a. LeMesurier´s method for 95 cases.
b. Modified Hagedorn´s method for 50 cases.
c. Barsky´s methd for 20 cases.
d. Tennison´s method for 6 cases.
5) For age incidence of cleft lip_ pts at the time of operation, 53 cases of Pts (30.8%) ere below one year old.
6) Among 172 cases of operated Pts for cleft lip, stain suture was performed for 11 cases.
7) In the cases of the cheiloplasty, suture out was performed at 5th postoperative day in 58.5% of Pts
8) For complication, the incidence were as belw:
stitch infecion 6 cases.
wound infection 5 cases. postop. hemorrhage 1 case.
9) Among the all 259 cases of Pts, another congenital anomaly was detected in 11 patients.
